Prof.Kwang Leong Choy

Dr. Kwang Leong Choy (CAI Junliang), Professor of Materials Science and Co-Director of the Environmental Research Center at Duke Kunshan University, was elected Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM) in 2007 and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2010, respectively. She focuses on the research of developing high-performance nanostructures and nanocomposites based on ultrathin/thin/thick films using novel and advanced material synthesis methods for applications in solar cells, energy storage, optoelectronics, environment, engineering, health care and biomedicine. 


Her pioneering research in innovative, environmentally friendly and cost-effective non-vacuum chemical vapor deposition platform technology has been granted patents, technology transfer and development by industrial companies, and has received recognition awards, including the Kroll Medal and Award (2020) and the Glenfeld Memorial Award and Medal from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3) (1999). She has led and participated in numerous national research projects, European research projects and international research projects, and has collaborated with large joint ventures in both academia and industry.

Dr. Goh Boon Tong is a professor in the Department of Physics, Universiti Malaya. He currently serves as Deputy Dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Deputy Head of the Low Dimensional Materials Research Center. Having earned his PhD in 2012 with a thesis titled “Layer-by-Layer Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition of Nanocrystalline Silicon Thin Films”, his primary research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials—including one-dimensional structures (nanowires, nanotubes, nanorods), two-dimensional materials (graphene, metal carbides) and metallic nanoparticles.

Dr. Goh has garnered numerous prestigious local and international awards. These include the MASS 2001 Best Thesis Award (Undergraduate Science) (MASS Malaysia), 2012 Excellence Award for Top-Impact Science Publications (Universiti Malaya), 2016 Newton Advanced Fellowship, Venus International Foundation’s Outstanding Researcher in Materials (Science Discipline) Award, 2020 Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) Award (Academy of Sciences Malaysia), and several conference awards.
